Sometimes PR professionals are made and sometimes they are chosen.
Our newest colleague and account manager, Keera Hart, was studying and working in accounting and fashion when her best friend and her cousin told her to go into Public Relations instead – insisting that everyone they knew in PR reminded them of her and that she’d be perfect for the industry!
So, we thought we should find out how she thinks it’s going in the years since the decision to change her fate and uncover what makes her so perfect for this business?
What do you love the most about PR?
I like that PR is a little bit the same, yet a bit different every day. There’s a lot of opportunity to be creative and new ways to approach initiatives or campaigns, but you’re still able to hone your skills at certain tasks.
What has been your proudest career moment to date?
I think that would be securing Huffington Post profiles for several clients. One of them, that wasn’t very well known at the time, felt it was the push she needed to get her business to take off. The bylines we wrote brought a ton of new business in for her, and that felt great to hear.
What are three things you cannot live without?
My family would be number one, my husband, Josh and 10-month old, Mia, mean the world to me and they keep me sane. After that, coffee and wine. Usually in that order, but it depends on the day.
What does your ideal Saturday look like?
Relaxing at home or going for a walk by the lake in the morning and then shopping in the afternoon. It’s rare I get a Saturday like that, but I cherish them when I do!
What are you looking forward to in your new role at KLC?
I’m looking forward to learning from different people. I love that I have several different teams within the team, to me that’s an opportunity to learn different approaches and new skills.
After our little “Heart to Hart” conversation, it’s clear that Keera is not only perfect for PR but also for KLC. We are thrilled her excellent decision-making skills led her to us!
