Summer Internship Update: Brianna went for the gold this summer!

August 6, 2021

Time sure flies when you move as fast as our Olympic hopeful Brianna Macdonald does. It feels like just yesterday when we introduced her as one of our new interns for the Summer. Her talent and eagerness to learn are a testament to being committed and making the best of the opportunities you have to achieve your goals. If we could rate her performance with a medal, it would certainly be a gold – one we hope she adds to her pile of recognitions including the ones we anticipate during her Olympic career (see her welcoming blog).

Before culminating her internship, Brianna shared a recap of her experience – and some wisdom for the interns who are joining us this fall.

What are the most relevant skills you have gained during your time at K&P?

Interning at Kaiser & Partners this summer has been a valuable and rewarding experience, as I am leaving with lots of new skills that I learned and developed. These skills are understanding and consistently using online monitoring and measurement tools such as Meltwater, Cision, and MRP. On top of learning the online programs, I have also had many opportunities to write drafts for certain projects which I have thoroughly enjoyed. The experience and skills I have acquired this summer are going to help me immensely in my future endeavors.

What are you enjoying the most?

I really enjoy working with the team here. Not only is K&P filled with a group of talented and smart individuals, but the team also is incredibly supportive and encouraging. I have found myself working alongside individuals who really take the time to help me understand my projects, which makes the days go by with ease.

What has been the most challenging?

Being able to time manage workdays, and prioritizing work has been the most challenging for me. I learned the importance of prioritizing my work and understanding how long each task will take me to complete. Once I figured out this skill, I was able smoothly complete my work in an effective and efficient way.

What advice do you have for future interns at K&P?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Everyone at K&P wants you to succeed and understand the programs you’re working on. By doing so you will be able to have a successful and smooth internship where you can really learn!
