With a flair for learning and delivering results…welcome Yevgeniya!

August 24, 2022
It has been a busy and buzzing summer here at K&P. From adding new clients to welcoming new team members, we have had our hands full. As part of our team of fall intern recruits, we welcomed Yevgeniya Yen, who has recently joined from Centennial College’s Public Relations Postgraduate program. This multi-talented individual, who has an eye for media and compelling storylines, took a few moments to tell us a bit about herself.

What do you love the most about PR?

First, I love PR because it is about communications. I firmly believe that strong communications can make a huge impact on your personal life, business and globally. Secondly, I feel that it matches my personality: it is never boring, you can always learn something new!

Tell us about the moment you decided you wanted to be in PR?

To be honest, I was always thinking about what I wanted to do in my life, and I tried so hard to find something that fascinates me. At one point, I took a career test and PR emerged on the list of recommended professions. I had previously studied marketing, so I knew that I wanted to do something similar, but more people oriented. After further researching PR, I realized it is what I was searching for.

What are you looking forward to in your new role at K&P?

I am excited about everything! The B2B sector is a new experience for me, and it is my first job in Canada. I am looking forward to learning as much as I can, trying to do as much as possible and working with the K&P team.

What do you love the most about Toronto?

In my opinion, the best thing about Toronto is that the city is filled with diversity in everything: people, cultures, cuisines, mentalities, and events. And the people here are polite, vibrant and welcoming.

What TV series are you into right now?

Surprisingly, I discovered a TV show called “The Bold Type”. It is an American comedy-drama TV series inspired by the life and career of the former editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine Joanna Coles. This TV show highlights so many important topics such as feminism, friendship, and mentorship.

What does your playlist look like?

It looks like different people just added their favourite songs. I enjoy listening to various genres, from classical music to hip-hop, from reggaeton to indie/rock. You can find some “old, but gold” bands such as ABBA or Red Hot Chili Peppers in addition to new popular singers.

What’s the last book you read?

I am a fan of classic literature, so the last book that I read for the third time was “Arch of Triumph” written by Erich Maria Remarque. I love this author and he wrote a lot of great books. However, a piece of advice for those who want to start reading books written by this author: they are all mainly about wartime, so they can be a bit depressing.

Where would your dream trip take you?

A long-term stay in Europe would be ideal for me, so I’d have ample time to explore the city, eat at different restaurants and cafes and simply soak up the culture.

Welcome Yevgeniya. Your love of learning, creativity and delivering results will surely be an asset to us all. We are all excited to see where your journey at K&P takes you!
