Beyond her passion for reading, she is also a fun-fact lover who will surely be a formidable competitor in our next K&P Friday Trivia hour.
A graduate of Humber College’s Public Relations Graduate Certificate, Danielle brings a deep interest in content creation and media relations and since joining a few weeks ago, it’s evident these two areas are not the only ones in which she’ll shine!
Tell us about the moment you decided you wanted to be in PR?
I knew from a fairly young age that I was interested in PR. I’ve always loved telling stories so when I was in high school my mom suggested I look into a career in PR. After doing some research I gained an increasing curiosity about who works toward making a brand known by the public. Many people think it’s just marketing but I found it interesting that PR plays such a vital role too.
What has been your proudest career moment to date?
When I managed a client campaign for the first time. It was for the Niagara Social Justice Coalition, an organization that works toward promoting equality for all people, which is something I’m extremely passionate about. After all the hard work that went into the campaign, finally watching the execution of it made me proud of the role I played in making it happen.
What are you looking forward to in your new role at K&P?
Working with the K&P team. Everyone has been so welcoming and helpful. It’s hard to connect when we are all working from home, but all of my colleagues have put in an effort to make me feel a part of the team.
Do you have any secret talents?
My secret talent is being able to finish a book in one sitting. When I start a book I can’t stop reading until I’ve finished it and I’m not sure if this is a blessing or a curse.
What might people be surprised to learn about you?
If you ever want to learn a random fact, I’m the person to ask. I love to learn new things about everything and anything!
Who inspires you?
The person who inspires me most is my mom. She moved to Canada from Portugal when she was young and had to teach herself a new language while going to school. Since then, she’s achieved two bachelor’s degrees and her masters and become a successful child and youth therapist. She is such a brave and daring person and those are two things I strive to become.
What are three things you cannot live without?
Three things I could not live without are my family, my daily planner and my phone. My family is such an important part of my life, my daily planner keeps me on track and my phone keeps me connected. During a pandemic, virtual communication tools are incredibly important.
What’s the last book you read?
The last book that I read was The Outsiders. I’ve been reading it since high school, and I’ve reread it over 10 times. The movie is not nearly as good as the book!
We’re excited to welcome Danielle this spring as one of our newest interns and can’t wait for her next chapter!
