What do you love the most about PR?
The storytelling. I have always been a storyteller and I love taking messages and facts and presenting them in a way that is exciting and memorable. Everything and everyone has a story, we just need people to help tell them.
Tell us about the moment you decided you wanted to be in PR?
I remember being in the career centre office at my university during my last year. I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do beyond university and what I would be good at. PR was one of the career paths that was suggested. I had never heard of PR before, so I decided to go home and investigate post-grad programs. There was one college who had the words “We are Storytellers” on the front page of their website. In that moment, I got giddy and excited and knew that is what I wanted to do. The funny part is, I didn’t end up attending that college. But they were instrumental in me choosing PR.
What are you looking forward to in your new role at K&P?
I’m excited to learn: learn about the clients, learn about K&P and how we do our work, learn more about the PR field altogether. I’m a sponge and I like to learn and absorb as much information as I can about any given topic.
What might people be surprised to learn about you?
I love reading TV show spoilers. I usually know what is going to happen on reality shows like Big Brother, The Bachelor/Bachelorette, The Challenge a week/few months in advance.
I read episode synopses of TV shows and never watch them. For example, the other day I read the synopsis of Frasier (and have I only watched a couple of episodes previously)
Who inspires you?
My baba (grandmother) and my mom.
What are three things you cannot live without?
My phone, my headphones, and my water bottle
What do you love the most about Toronto?
I love how vibrant the city is and the fast pace. There is always something going on in the city to check out
What does your ideal Saturday look like?
My ideal Saturday would be spending the day at some sort of market (St. Jacob’s, St. Lawrence) exploring. Then by evening, settling down on the couch with a comfy blanket and watching a good movie.
What TV series are you into right now?
90 Day Fiancé, The Bachelor franchise, The Challenge, Big Brother, The Simpsons, Archer, Bob’s Burgers, Yellowstone, Only Murders in the Building
What does your playlist look like?
My playlists are all over the place. My go-to playlist is usually 90’s Alt-Rock, but I have playlists that are strictly country music, pop or indie. It all depends on my mood that day.
What’s the last book you read?
The Party Crasher by Sophie Kinsella. I love a good romantic comedy and Sophie Kinsella’s books are my absolute favourite.
Where would your dream trip take you?
Somewhere with cute cafes and cobblestone roads. Ideally, a charming town or city that has hidden treasures to explore and a lot of historical facts.
Amanda certainly wears many hats here at K&P! We all look forward towards seeing where her new position leads. Welcome aboard Amanda!
